Backflow Prevention Testing

Is your sprinkler system poisoning the water for all the neighbors?

Water in sprinkler pipes normally comes from potable sources such as the city water supply. But, once it passes through a normally functioning backflow preventer it becomes non-potable. Why? Because all of the fertilizers, pesticides, insects, parasites, soil born disease, and pet feces work their way down into the pipes and parts of the system over time. Does that sound like something that you want you or your children to drink and bathe in?

This is why cities mandate a testable backflow preventer be mounted on every system. When functioning properly, these assemblies keep all of the unwanted contaminants from entering our drinking water. The problem is these assemblies, like everything else, eventually wear out and stop performing their duties. A non-working assembly is like having no backflow protection at all. That can lead to contamination of not only your water, but quite possibly all of your neighbors’ water as well.
